Assassination Nation has delivered exactly what I love about movies: it made me both feel and think.

It's about as edgy as a perfect sphere.

Every point the film wants to make has to be roared via lengthy speeches and declarations made straight down the lens. Any deeper meaning becomes lost. When the fires finally subside, there's not that much to be found in the ashes.

A ferocious satire for NOW, when Assassination Nation really ramps up, it hits like a baseball bat to the back of the head.

Levinson doesn't quite hit on the right tone in his attempts at juggling a lot of disparate styles and ideas... Still, this remains a frequently sharp and diverting piece of work. Worth a look.

Gleeful... I turned to myself and went, "wow."

Such literal storytelling doesn't logically or tonally mesh with later scenes of mass hysteria, violence, and absurdity.

Here it is, the definitive movie for the Donald Trump era. Like Trump, it's crass, disturbing and devoid of subtext. Unlike him, it has style, self-awareness and a sense of humour.

Even for a film that's scattershot by design, it's excessively disorganised, but it is fierce and inventive enough to justify its existence.

There is an awful lot going on, it doesn't all work, but overall this is something that doesn't just have great style, it has real substance.

It's by no means a must-see, but it is definitely worth the watch.

Assassination Nation has the seed of a good idea at its core, but as a satire on social media and Donald Trump's intolerant America it is about as subtle as a laptop falling on your head from a great height.

This funny, exhilarating film's teenage heroines do, though, represent a better future. Unlike the often imprisoned, regularly showering tough chicks of the exploitation pics Levinson channels, these women have prospects.

Takes well-aimed potshots at the patriarchy and the expectations placed upon young women by a jaded, content-hungry culture raised on insta-porn imagery.

This incendiary, no-holds-barred film feels like it has been birthed, blood-covered and screaming, from the era in which we live.

As a warning about the dangers of living your life through your iPhone, and of internet porn and all the other associated technological temptations of our time, it deserves to be seen.

It is brutal, angry, abrasive, brash, sexy, grotesque and deeply troubling - perfectly judging the mood of young women around the world.

The messages are conveyed by a dizzying mass of violent, sexual images ... that throb to an excellent score by Ian Hultquist. Bravura shots abound.
