Movie Info

William Girdler, best known for Grizzly and The Manitou, made his directorial debut with this low-budget occult horror film. Carla Borelli stars as a musician who is imprisoned in a private mental clinic run by the immortal Satanist Dr. Spector (Charles Kissinger). The special effects are wretched, including unconvincing axe murders and attacks by phony-looking snakes and insects. Girdler made the slightly more watchable Three on a Meathook the same year.

Audience Reviews for Asylum of Satan

A beautiful young woman is transferred against her will to an asylum where the patients dress like Klansmen and sing hymns to Satan. Through a combination of fog machines, rubber snakes, and talk, talk, talk, a vaguely movie-like substance eventually congeals on screen.
