This sweeping epic features a cast of Inuit actors and is based on one of their ancient legends. Natar Ungalaaq stars as a young Inuit who falls for a woman (Sylvia Ivalu) who has been promised to the unlikable son of the tribal chief. Unlike Margaret Atwood, I wouldn't call it the greatest Canadian film ever made but it is so unique in terms of its depictions of not only the lives of the Innuit..but a study of their ancient cultural belief system. A truly remarkable film.
