A disappointingly underwhelming sequel...

It is what it is, I just wish it wasn't.

I preferred the Boys when they were young and care free, and the characters understood it was better to burn out than fade away. Filmmakers used to understand that too. It's that understanding I'm nostalgic for.

It's a tired, formulaic, seen-it-all-before storyline and that leaves us with a movie that will be all but forgotten about in a few weeks.

As an action movie Bad Boys for Life is a poor comedy. [Full review in Spanish]

In short "Bad Boys" is incredible. "Bad Boys 2" is insane. "Bad Boys For Life" is an almost instantly forgettable franchise bookend, or is it? Maybe it's time we start reading the title with the upward inflection of Ron Burgundy.

It's Smith and Lawrence who redeem this film, to the extent that it is redeemed. They're both miraculously well-preserved, their chemistry is great, and Smith's movie-star charisma is set to stun.

"Bad Boys for Life" is a mostly expendable entry into the "Bad Boys" franchise, the Will Smith and Martin Lawrence buddy cop series...
January 19, 2020
Michael Bay's hyperbolic style is sorely missed, as is Will Smith's long-gone charisma.
January 18, 2020
There's clearly enough machismo energy and silly one-liners for recycling onto the screen here to make your head spin, and not always in a negative way.
January 17, 2020
... a mixed bag of character-driven nostalgia and high-octane explosions that generally lacks inspiration beyond a few scattered laughs.
January 17, 2020
Endlessly awful, a throwback that should have been thrown away.
January 17, 2020
Full of crater-sized plot holes and non-stop, over the top action.

As this long, 123-minute movie wraps up, the phrase "for life" begins to sound uneasily like a sentence.
