Not a bad slapstick silent short-film, but not consistently funny or hilarious either. Some good gags - especially with the canoe - but the bears & fish bit aren't great.

Not one of Keaton's better shorts but still a few laugh-out-loud gags.

Not his best but still had some good funny scenes .

Buster Keaton has always been my favourite silent film star - his film have wit, charm, intelligent, and often surrealisitic humour that launch them into the stratosphere of greatness. The Balloonatic is one of those surrealistic films that is almost brilliant in its execution. The plot is simple, and rather sweet, and Keaton's genius shines through. To modern eyes it might appear rather hackneyed, but this really is a marvel of a film.

Keaton vs the great outdoors. The scene with the bears was hilarious.

One of the last of Keaton's short films, "The Balloonatic" is 22 minutes in length and is devoid of any kind of plot or layout. The only thing holding it together cohesively is Buster is after the girl, who is much better at being outside in the wilderness then he is. The film is not quite as funny as some of his other shorts but the gags involved are well done and the balloon, especially when it looks like Buster and the girl are going to fall down a waterfall, is incredibly utilized as the perfect and suitable ending piece. While "The Balloonatic" isn't bringing anything new to the table, it's also proving that Buster is about to graduate on to feature length films where he can really spread his wings!

The Balloonatic is short and silly. There are a few very funny physical gags. It's not laugh-out-loud hilarious, but for fans of Keaton's or slapstick, it's absolutely worth watching.

This one doesn't conform to a plot but is rather composed of several sketches loosely connected to each other, but like any of his films, it has its fair share of original, albeit dangerous stunts. I love the absurd simplicity with which events unfold in his films; it's as if nothing is happening although there is much at stake, including his own life. another short gem from this brilliant Joker.

Keaton in the great outdoors, you can't miss it!

a bunch of lightly sketched gag ideas bound together very loosely form the basis of 'the balloonatic.' you have some gags in a fun house and then buster wanders away and encounters a hot air balloon, which he manages to climb aboard. he then floats away into the woods where he encounters a girl and they get into adventures. each segment works on its own terms but don't expect any consistency of story here.

Entertaining Buster Keaton short, although clearly not his best.

Fun wilderness shenanigans and a great final gag.

The lack of a story actually doesn't make it as enjoyable as Keaton's other shorts. The bear gags were hilarious.

Best title for a Buster Keaton thingy.

The Balloonatic isn't really about a guy who is cuckoo for balloons, as the title would have you believe. Instead, it's just about Buster Keaton going through several different gags through several different settings. There's not really a plot, although there is a love interest thrown in at the end for no particular reason.

The gags are wonderful. Where Keaton's feature-length films are comparable to a band putting out a new album, his shorts feel like an EP -- just a few songs to see how people react to them.

The Balloonatic isn't about the story, but about the jokes. They feel like they're being tested for use later on down the line. The short does end on a kind of sweet and unbelievable note, but mostly it's just Keaton having fun experimenting with physical comedy.

This is not one of my favourite Keaton shorts, but it has some great set-pieces involved.

Keaton's shorts are the greatest things ever committed to celluloid. And I'm not even hyperbolizing.

A classic Buster Keaton film with everything you could ever want from him. An overall brilliant sketch. A must see film for anyone that is into comedy.
