Movie Info

This film was one of Buster Keaton's final two-reelers before he graduated to feature-length comedies, and it has no plot to speak of. The gags, however, are especially rich and otherworldly. Basically, Keaton wanders off from an amusement park and winds up floating away in an experimental balloon.

Audience Reviews for Balloonatic

One of the last of Keaton's short films, "The Balloonatic" is 22 minutes in length and is devoid of any kind of plot or layout. The only thing holding it together cohesively is Buster is after the girl, who is much better at being outside in the wilderness then he is. The film is not quite as funny as some of his other shorts but the gags involved are well done and the balloon, especially when it looks like Buster and the girl are going to fall down a waterfall, is incredibly utilized as the perfect and suitable ending piece. While "The Balloonatic" isn't bringing anything new to the table, it's also proving that Buster is about to graduate on to feature length films where he can really spread his wings!
