A huge disappointment. It's a terrible plot that's both confusing and frustrating, Also an overpowered villain with a horrible portrayal of Luthor. There is not much that I like about this movie, but there was some good action at least.

The first misfire in the DCEU, yet not as bad as what critics say. Zack Snyder did a mediocre job handling two of the biggest superheroes ever. Also, I find the film really dragging with its 2.5 hour runtime.

watch ultimate edition. Much better movie.

not as bad the critics say

A confusing and boring movie, that seems like it was only created beacuse Marvel were making Captain America Civil War.

BvS is a wonderful mess. A movie that advertised itself as a showdown for the ages....but the showdown lasts about eight minutes with a lukewarm solution. Batman vs Superman is, however, a great spectacle to look at, but falls flat at nearly three hours long.

There are many good ideas, and bad ideas explored in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Ultimately, though, these ideas blend into a disappointing film, with forced in storylines, but great action.

This movie gets so much hate...

Yet, it's one of the best superheroes movies I have seen in a while. Definitely better than most of the MCU movies.

I'm surprised to say that this movie had relatively good audience reviews. I'm sorry, but is this a joke? A human would have to be out of their f*cking mind to think this is a good movie. Horrible acting, plot, character development, script, writing... I could go on and on. The product placement is also laughable (I won't be riding Turkish airlines anytime soon). I'm happy if anyone got any joy out of this movie, but donating your money to this utter piece of crap is like donating to a group that raises money to make nuclear bombs.

WHY DOES THIS GOD-AWFUL MOVIE HAVE A 63% ON AUDIENCE SCORE??? ALL THE PEOPLE WHO LIKE THIS MOVIE ARE RETARDS. THIS MOVIE SHOULD AT LEAST HAVE A 29% AUDIENCE SCORE. This movie is terrible, too long, excessively boring, horribly paced, poorly acted, poorly directed, poorly written, and unintentionally hilarious at times. Henry Cavill and Amy Adams have no chemistry. Lois Lane is an extremely boring character in this film. Jesse Eisenburg is horribly cast as Lex Luthor and ruined the character. The Flash's cameo in Bruce Wayne's dream didn't make any sense at all. Superman was still a boring, dark, gloomy, emo, and depressed superhero, which is the exact opposite of the real Superman from the comics. Diana Prince a.k.a. Wonder Woman throughout most of the film did not have a purpose in the story other than to be there to set up Justice League and to pop out of nowhere and help Batman and Superman defeat Doomsday. Speaking of which, Doomsday was horribly wasted in the film and had no character development at all. He didn't even at least say one word. The CGI was awful and overused. The movie was filled with so many multiple, countless plot holes and had too many multiple subplots that were too hard to keep up with and none of the subplots even made any sense. The movie didn't have a clear story and it had no plot. The character development was bad. Superman's death was pretentious instead of emotional because he is obviously coming back to life in Justice League. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice failed as a superhero movie, comic book movie, and as a movie in general. Oh, and the Ultimate Edition barely helps, it still has a ton of the same problems that the theatrical cut has. The Ultimate Edition is barely an improvement.

Theatrical cut rating: 2.6/10
Ultimate Edition rating: 2.7/10

Following off of Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman (BvS) is another dark and gritty film. Like with Man of Steel, it does a fantastic job of mixing bizarre and over the top concepts and costumes which jump straight out of the comic books, with the realism of a grounded and accurate society. It again delves into the ideas of how the public may react if these concept were real. This makes the stakes higher and helps make the more unrelatable characters more human as we see their inner struggle as it bends to the stress and weight of their responsibilities. Again, much like its predecessor, the soundtrack is incredible and it is a visual joy to watch. This film is controversial however. First is the run time, due to studio meddling, the film had large sections cut from the theatrical version. This made the story hard to follow and with BvS being very story driven, it may put many off. The home release does contain the full version and it is considerably better. BvS also has taken a few liberties with the source material. Some may find the choice to make Batman a murderer to be big mistake, however it is clearly explained in the film that he is an older broken Batman. This not only partially justifies the killing but it a refreshing new take on the character and leaves room for his eventual redemption and character development. Lex Luthor also takes an unusual turn as at first glance this is not the Lex Luthor most fans are used to. He can be a bit over the top and less genius and more spoilt brat, however his part in the film perfectly acts as the bridge between the ordinary realistic world and the unrealistic heroes. Finally there is a scene in which 'SPOILERS' Batman spares Superman because he shouts Martha. Most fans have taken this as literally meaning, they become friends because their mums share the same name. It is disappointing that so many have misunderstood this scene as it is actually an emotional scene in which Batman realises that Superman is more human than alien and perhaps more pure than he himself is. In Man of Steel I praised Henry Cavill on his portrayal of Superman and in BvS he continues to shine. Ben Affleck however perfectly embodies both Batman and Bruce Wayne. He is the best actor for the character we have seen so far. On the whole this film would have been 5 stars but the theatrical cut cannot be ignored and the does hinder the overall enjoyment of the film. But this film is terribly misunderstood. It is not an MCU film and nor should it be. Its realism and darker tone defines it and it disappoints me that Warner Brothers chose to make all DC films after this more like Marvel.

Boring and joyless, "Batman v Superman" offers a film with a gloomy Superman, an inaccurate Batman, and a forced foreshadowing to future films. The movie's only saving grace is Snyder's unique visual style.
