  • With an extremely short running time, it manages to capture the essence of what made the comic book work so well. [Full review in Spanish]

  • The movie looks great, with a moody use of shadows and darkness and dreary, lowdown locations.

  • A stale adaptation of the classic Frank Miller comic. The film drowns in bad voice work and lacks the visual nuances found in the original story.

  • Not just Batman's tale, but it's also Commissioner Gordon's tale...

  • For a story constructed out of choppy slices, this is probably the most unified of the DC animated features.

I thought even with the short run time it drags and never really gets going, Voice cast was strong but none really make the characters their own, Action was done ok but the story was made very dull compared to the comic, Even my kids were bored but it's not one for the kids it's for the hardcore fans, If you liked the comic you will like this as it's very faithful to it but if you haven't read it then you won't enjoy it as much.

DC Comics continues to be enthralling in its animated adaptations and Batman: Year One is no different. Displaying crisp animation and gripping sequences, this graphic-novel adaptation offers a remarkable vision of Frank Miller & David Mazzucchelli's take on the famed vigilante. 4.5/5
