Movie Info

This documentary film is one of the relative few which arises out of the experience of children of Holocaust victims. The impetus for the film was the production of a 1988 music album, Ashes And Dust by Yehuda Poliker and Yaakov Gill'ad. These two are children of Holocaust victims, and the album concerns itself exclusively with the Holocaust. The film exposes the experiences of these two and their families, through separate and then combined interviews. It also follows one the musician's parents during a pilgrimage to Auschwitz and the mother of one of the musicians as she teaches a class about the Holocaust, making it come alive for the students through her personal experiences. Album recording sessions and excerpts from its songs enliven this moving documentary. ~ Clarke Fountain, Rovi
