While Schröder has proven on multiple occasions to be a powerful documentarian capturing uniquely engaging instances and peoples, Big Time doesn't even come close to being on par with that of his previous works, and is borderline forgettable as a result.

Ingels is both innovative and without a defining design philosophy. His enthusiasm and persistence pushes through buildings his clients didn't anticipate, and it's fascinating to see him take on gum-chewing Manhattan developers.

Ingels doesn't fit in a regular box. Yet, Big Time is a regular box of a movie: a highly competent and thoroughly engaging portrait of a young architect. What's missing is an American Ayn Rand sensibility to give Ingels's celebrity some cultural contrast.
