The Movie House Massacre (Blood Theater) (1984)

Movie Info

Released in 1986, Movie House Massacre was actually filmed sometime between 1978 and 1984. Cult fave Mary Woronov heads the cast of this slasher-in-the-theater opus. A mulitplex mogul decides to reopen a "haunted" theatre where, eleven years earlier, the manager went bonkers, killed a ticket taker, and set the place ablaze. Since the mogul is blatantly a crook, something real bad is bound to happen when he renovates the old movie house. In fact, the carnage begins even before the gala opening (thereby cutting down on the number of extras). What could have been a lot of fun is sabotaged by the cinematic clumsiness of producer/director/writer Alice Raley.

Rare is the film that fails so resoundingly in two separate genres at the exact same time.

This movie knows that it's a big joke, yet it's so completely oblivious to the fact that it's a pathetic joke.

Audience Reviews for The Movie House Massacre (Blood Theater)

It appears to be tongue in cheek from time to time, but mostly it's just terrible. Mary Woronov's involvement was what caught my attention, and she's okay in her role, but there's just not a lot for anyone to work with here. Pass, unless you're just a glutton for punishment.
