Some good acting but the actors had too little to work with here.
A lot more could have been done with this movie, but good bones.
Yeah this was pretty terrible.

The word "Bloodworth" as the title indicates, I have to say fans of horror may be dissappointed since it has a title one could see for a scary movie but it's really the last name of a redneck family centering on a father E.F. (Kris Kristofferson) making attempts to reconcile the family that he left behind many years ago once finding out he has cancer. Although, the music sounds great, it wasn't enough to keep this film afloat since they're several familiar nuances making it way too simplistic. The point of view is from the most educated one in the "Bloodworth" family whose inspired to be a writer, Fleming played by Reece Thompson who falls for Raven played by Hillary Duff. Also stars is Val Kilmer as the bar owner Warren Bloodworth and Dwight Yoakam as Boyd Bloodworth. Doesn't offer anything new the genre.
2 out of 4
Southern Gothic at its....well, maybe not its finest, but it is a respectable example of the genre. If you liked "That Evening Sun" with Hal Holbrook, you'll like this one, although the themes and violence are much darker in Bloodworth. Kristofferson, Kilmer, and Yoakam were great in their parts, but the actors' characters interacted very little. I'd love to see them in another movie together.
Kind of a forgettable movie and a little slow. Of this genre there are better ones out there...
Kristofferson is really quite good in this film.. as well as Reece Daniel as well as miss duff.. Really very boring until they put 30 twists in at the last 23 minutes of the film.
Very strange characters, very slow plot (assuming there was one in there). Lots of bad acting... very disappointing ...
no new tale 2 tell here-here's the formula: 'tender mercies' + 'crazy heart'=this one
Just my kinda movie I guess. The acting was great.
