A woman learns about the mother she never knew and finds their lives follow similar paths in this drama from Armenia. Laura (Laurence Ritter) is a woman in her early forties who works as a schoolteacher in Yerevan; she's never been married and zealously protects her privacy. Laura's mother died in childbirth and she knows little about her real parents until, after the death of her father, she's sent a package of his belongings, including her mother's diary. Hanna (Siri Helene Müller) was living in Norway near the end of World War II when she found Arakel (Serge Avedikian), an escaped Armenian prisoner of war. Hanna impulsively allows the POW to hide out in a barn on her family's property, and as she looks after the fugitive, the two begin to fall in love. Meanwhile in the 1980s, Laura is also slipping into a difficult affair of the heart as an angry outburst against one of her students, 16-year-old Narek (Sos Janibekyan), leads to an unexpected act of kindness and an surprising moment of passion.
