Movie Info

Director Peter Schamoni marks artist Fernando Botero's seventy-fifth birthday by recounting the fascinating life story of the boy who emerged from a remote town in the Andes to conquer the European art world and become an influential figure on the global art scene. From Tokyo to Washington and as far away as Caracas, Botero's work has been exhibited in over seventy one-man shows in museum's across the globe. Some of Botero's best-known sculptures have been displayed in such prominent places as Park Avenue in New York (1993), Champs-Elysées in Paris (1992), and the center of Berlin (2007). In 2005, Botero ventured into previously unexplored territory by creating a vivid new work cycle concerning the atrocities committed in the Iraqi prison in Abu Ghraib. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
