Critic Review - At the Movies

It's certainly not that there aren't a few funny moments in the film. There are, but overwhelmingly, Bruno's stunts are demeaning, they are insulting and they are really cruel.

I completely agree!! I am so glad someone else shares my opinion.

this has passed the line from being comedic to cruel.

I heard an interviewer on NPR say that everyone who watches Bruno should know the gay sex scenes are over the top. I haven't seen Bruno but I saw the line outside the theater. Most were 16 year old boys. This is what they are going to think gay people really are like. So, I guess the true test of Bruno will come when school begins again. What will life be like for gay kids on the playground?

Demeaning and cruel? Most of the stunts he pulls ends up showing the true colors of people you don't normally see. I seem to recall parents in the movie willing to let him do pretty much anything to their children, so they could live out their lost dreams through them. Gag or not, any parents willing to allow someone to do that stuff to their children are the cruel ones. The 'victims' only demeaned and insulted themselves by showing how ugly of people they truly are.

none of them were demeaning or cruel, get a sense of humor, and laugh at people sometimes.
