Movie Info

Dedicated fans of Latin American music, and in particular, fans of the Cuban-originated mambo will appreciate this otherwise pedestrian documentary for the fact that almost all performances of songs are included in their entireity. In the 1930s, a young man born with the name Israel Lopez became famous as Cachao, the man who first put together one of the most successful early "fusion" musical languages: the mambo. It combines jazz, classical, latin and African styles into an infectious musical potpourri that is unforgettable and unique. This documentary celebrates the 79-year old musician's contribution and life.
