At times it felt like it was moving slowly and at other times it seemed like the narrative itself was so rushed. One moment it feels like there’s minimal depth to the storyline and in other moments, it’s incredibly palpable. I’m not so sure it’s a “romance” film, more so a “coming of age story: relationship edition,” in that these two characters are evolving in many ways (interests, needs, capabilities), and at what cost? As such, the movie is very relatable. The anxieties and emotions are intense. Nick Robinson (Love Simon and most recently Voicemails for Isabelle) is as charismatic as they come! He and Emilia Jones (CODA) make you feel every ounce of their angst throughout the film. Real life stuff.
