Movie Info

When you board an airplane, you put your life in the hands of the pilot and co-pilot. What happens in the cockpit when these professionals are faced with impending disaster? CHARLIE VICTOR ROMEO (code for "cockpit voice recorder") dramatizes actual black box recordings of six harrowing airline emergencies, using the sparest of elements to foreground the unabashedly heroic professionalism of these unsung men and women. Adapted from a critically-acclaimed theatrical production, the movie - shot and projected in 3-D - puts you in the cockpit as they do everything possible to land under near-impossible circumstances: a plane that can only make right turns; blown engines due to bird strikes; or failed hydraulics, resulting from maintenance negligence. "For 80 minutes, the movie keeps you in something like suspended animation, waiting to exhale. You've never seen anything like it." - Scott Foundas, Village Voice (c) Film Forum

Everything the principal actors say was uttered, in a crisis, by a real person, although the sometimes frantic chatter has been edited for clarity by authors Robert Berger, Patrick Daniels and Irving Gregory.

You probably don't want to see this gripping 3-D adaptation of an unusual and acclaimed 1999 off-Broadway production just before your next plane trip.

Almost unbearably gripping.

The hybrid feel, a mix of live TV and stage play, seems appropriate to a work that inherently rests on a blend of the immediate and the canned.

Audience Reviews for Charlie Victor Romeo

An intriguing and unique concept that is executed well. Even if Charlie Victor Romeo doesn't quite have long enough legs to get you all the way to the end of the film with your interest still intact, there's enough to enjoy here to warrant a Saturday afternoon watch.

3.9/10 I was really hoping for this documentary to be good and intense, but it was completely boring and not credible at all. Aside from one recreation that was good, all of them were boring and the repetition of the actors made it less real. Also it was kind of pointless and the way each story was told felt incomplete and without any real momentum. At least they tried to do something different. ~February 1, 2015~

This movie was about as intense as a movie can be, made of course more so since every word of it was from real events. I ran the full gamut of emotions watching this, sometimes I could hardly breath and my heart was pounding. This is not a movie like the happy ending type you're probably used to.
