Fifth in a series of bad films based on very short story
I wonder if Stephen King chuckles when he finds these movies sitting in the bargain bin.
Returning to form, Children of the Corn V: Fields of Terror attempts to get back to the series' origins. A group of teenagers who are on their way to spread the ashes of a friend end up stranded in a rural town that has a commune of children who worship He Who Walks Behind the Rows. Starring Alexis Arquette, Eva Mendes, Fred Williamson, and David Carradine, the film has an impressive cast. And, there are some frightening kill scenes with a good amount of gore. Still, the writing isn't particularly good and fails to make the characters or the story that compelling. Yet overall, Children of the Corn V: Fields of Terror is a fairly solid B-grade horror film and one of the better entries in the series.
Fields of Terror is a decent sequel. The gore factor and body count are still factors in this fifth entry. However the execution is so-so and never anything too interesting. The film could have been much better. Director Ethan Wiley seems bored directing this, and the result is a film that is mildly entertaining, and one that could have been much better. Of course usually a film series by a fifth entry becomes tiring and uninspired because the screenwriters have run out of ideas; this is the case with the film. The film is a decent entry, but it never really is a good film. The film could have been much better and it shows on-screen. As far as the children of the Corn series is concerned, this is one of the worst. The previous entries tried something new by adding new elements to the series, more gore and violence. But this fifth entry is inspired and it lacks anything that makes a good film. Oh, the film is decent for what it is, but it never goes beyond that. This fifth entry is mildly entertaining; bur lacks anything to really make it a good film. Of all the Children of the Corn films, this is one of the worst because it doesn't do anything really interesting with plot and the film at times is quite boring. However, even if it's the worst in the series, it's a decent watch for what it is, but it could have been much better than this.
Average sequel with nothing really special to offer accept for a bunch of surprising cameos by Kane Hodder, Fred Williamson and David Carradine. Eva Mendes also features in an early role strutting her sexy stuff. It's pretty stupid in places the plot but it has some bloody moments, nothing like part 4 though.
pretty terrible movie where everyone knows the movie is just a big joke so they all try to give the worst performance they can. whoever casted Eva Mendes in Hitch should have just watched this first and been like "hmmm well Ms. Mendes, i see where youre coming from... but i gotta be honest. you are just AWFUL. sorry"..... anyway its kinda cool to see Alexis Arquette as a chick and then see this where he/she has like a goatee thing and what looks like the most obnoxiously 90's shirt ive ever seen
