The moral argument may be pat and predictable, but the movie disarms you with its charm and its solid craftsmanship...However familiar, the taste is still sweet, the texture light as a souffle, the sentiments pleasantly high caloric.

Ultimately, especially coming from director Lasse Hallstrom, such a slight flick doubles as a fat disappointment.

Mar 26, 2016Lighthearted and fluffy to a fault, Chocolat may not be the deepest nor the most thought provoking film out there, but it's certainly a "treat" for all those who want a funny, delightful and sweet film.Matthew M Super Reviewer

Dec 02, 2011I thought this was gonna be a dumb romance, but this movie was really good. The true great thing is the music, the score was perfect if you ask me. I think they could've made the town brighter and more colorful if you get what im saying. The acting was great, and deserved more recognition. The plot was well done and fun. This was a very good movie, and I wish you see it.Bradley W Super Reviewer

Jul 05, 2011Though the name may suggest it to be a romance poetry kind of movie, Chocolat is by far nothing as mention above. Nominated for Oscar for her work in Chocolat, Juliette Binoche did a marvelous job playing Vianne, a single mother with a gift of cocoa cooking who come into a small France village and influence the people for a modern change. Johnny Depp is heavily advertise in this movie though not particularly a bad thing but he has minimum screen time. Lena Olin and Alfred Molina leave me impressed by their stellar acting and performance. 8.2/10.Mesh B Super Reviewer
