Filled with some warmth, hilarity, and cleverness in some one-liners and characters unveiling developments. (B+)

City Slickers blends sight gags, one-liners, and sincerity, with both humor and drama arising from the characters and their situations. A sharply uneven movie, City Slickers begins as a mildly amusing comedy before turning into a more serio TV-like tale about mid-life crisis and the importance of male bonding. City Slickers is seen as a form of a classic, but the movie to me is missing the key ingredient for a classic although it happens to be one. While some of the sequences play somewhat saccharine today, the heart of the film - about finding your life's passion - is a subject that will never go out of style. The first act of City Slickers is arguably its finest, and it's a pity that the humour has to peak so early on. Underwood keeps it all moving although the film's many action sequences lack dynamism and flair. A fun outing, with Jack Palance's Oscar-winning performance the main attraction. There are some sporadic jokes and funny one-liners throughout the story, and the actors are amiable enough, resulting in a so-so movie...

VERDICT: "In The Zone" - [Mixed Reaction] These kinds of movies are usually movies that had some good things, but some bad things kept it from being amazing. This rating says buy an ex-rental or a cheap price of the DVD to own. If you consider cinema, ask for people's opinion on the film. (Films that are rated 2.5 or 3 stars)

Middle aged guys take a vacation trip in hopes of finding the meaning of life. Yes there are some funny bits but this movie is a perfect example of a great title and a great idea but not much on a great plot. It's cliché and formula.

Occasionally funny but mainly cheesy. Billy Crystal and Jack Palance are good, but the rest of this movie seems like a not very interesting idea and isn't great. Also, worst opening credits ever.

Charming & funny comedy that holds up well thanks to a splendid cast and a smart but straight-forward script. Crystal gives one of this best leading performances, and while he essentially plays himself (like most of his career) and he shows great comic timing & chemistry with his co-stars Stern & Kirby. You actually believe the three are friends, and their conversations, from their best day to how to work electronics, or believable & funny. The late, great Jack Palance is equally superb in his Oscar winning role as Curly, becoming the epitomizing every Western character. The script itself is very funny with honest talk about adult life, while the movie fits nicely under two hours. Great comedy that has aged quite well.

Yee-Haw! Hilariously entertaining, City Slickers rustles up a lot of laughs. When advertising executive Mitch Robbins has a mid-life crisis his best friends take him on a cattle drive for his birthday in hopes of lifting his spirits. Starring Billy Crystal, Daniel Stern, Helen Slater, and Jack Palance, the film has a solid cast that delivers strong performances. Additionally, the comedy is especially well-written, and has some insightful commentary on urban life and the issues that men face in modern society. The score too is quite good, and sets a lighthearted tone for the film. While it can get a little stereotypical at times, City Slickers is a fun-filled comedy with a heartfelt message about friendship.

Decent comedy featuring Billy Crystal, Bruno Kirby, Daniel Stern, and Jack Palance is entertaining enough. Crystal, Kirby, and Stern play friends from New York City who go off to a dude ranch to partake in a real cattle run, with Palance ad the gruff old cowboy who guides them. It is mostly a fish out if water comedy, and as those goes it works fairly well.
