Audience Reviews for Classic Albums

If you can get past the moments when Ringo Starr is trying to convince us that he's a good drummer, and that his "simplistic" rhythmic stylings on Plastic Ono Band were out of choice rather than out of necessity, then you'll enjoy this documentary. Okay. I kid just a little. The sere nature of John Lennon's first solo album is, admittedly, what makes it so memorable. The music is stripped to the roots, bare and unproduced, forcing the listener to pay attention to the lyrics. And the poetry of John's words isn't fancy. In fact, it's rather childish. It's also heart-breakingly moving. I've always thought Plastic Ono Band was John's best solo effort, and I was happy to hear that John thought so too.
