Audience Reviews for Cold War

The film is fairly intelligent, though the final conclusion doesn't maintain that standard. Cold War is for once however, a cop conspiracy that knows not to throw in too many twists, and for that, its a quality addition to the genre.

There's at least 2 sides to every war and apparently it takes 2 directors for the Cold War with Lok Man Leung and Kim-ching Luk behind the camera.

At just under 100 minutes, the slower pace of the storytelling makes the film feel longer; however, the consistent sense of mystery in the plot details make the forthcoming minutes all the more welcome. When all is said and done, the story makes for a solid crime mystery.

The action is limited with some decent use of CG in the explosive finale. More gun play wouldn't hurt, but this film does fine with what it has.

Tony Leung, complete with shaved head and goatee, and Aaron Kwok each carry the film when needed. Ka Tung Lam, Charlie Yeung, Kar Lok Chin, and Aarif Rahman, among others, round out the invaluable supporting cast.

Once all the facts become clear, Cold War finds itself as a recommendable picture out of Hong Kong.

By claiming it to be the best film in HK Cinema since < Infernal Affairs > may sound overrated, but it is roughly true. It is not really that ground breaking, the story-telling & acting however is overall gratifying.
