It doesn't have the electricity, the wound-up tension, of [Scorsese's] best work, and as a result I was too aware of the story marching by.

There's nothing [Martin Scorsese] made so achingly generic and impersonal as this.

Undernecessary sequel. Cinematography was incredible, though.

In the end, Money is a scratch, a contrived cliffhanger that sets us up for Hustler III.

The Color of Money is a good movie, but perhaps not a good sequel.

If you're going to make a sequel to something as beloved as "The Hustler," make sure you get a brilliant director to handle the project.

As a standalone movie, it is a memorable entry in Scorsese and Newman's filmographies. But as a companion piece to The Hustler, it is an exceptional example on how to revisit an iconic character with respect, and above all, with a healthy new vision.

A adequate fulcrum for getting Paul Newman his long-deserved Oscar. But everyone involved has been better.

As atuações seguras do trio principal e a direção enérgica de Scorsese transformam o bilhar em um jogo tão fascinante quanto o futebol ou o pôquer.

For the bulk of the run time, The Color of Money excels on its intended terms as a sexy genre picture, mostly thanks to an energetic star turn courtesy of Tom Cruise.
