Anne Baxter stars in the Columbo thriller Requiem for a Falling Star. The story follows an aging Hollywood starlet who murders her assistant and stages it to look like a case of mistaken identity; and it's up to Lt. Columbo to sort it all out. The plot has a fair amount of depth to it, but the resolution is a bit too simplistic and is somewhat anticlimactic. However, Baxter has good on-screen chemistry with Peter Falk, and gives a very strong and engaging performance. A well-crafted mystery film, Requiem for a Falling Star is full of suspense and intrigue.

Falk is in fire form in this thoroughly plotted episode that tries its hand at a few new ideas without straying too far from the faithful formula. Not a classic or among the more memorable Columbos but certainly a good entry and one to rewatch.

Good mystery, boosted by Anne Baxter's presence. Columbo does his usual snooping and follows his usually accurate hunches to solve a murder.

Columbo plays it cool som vanlig, man kan tro han kommer til å rote seg bort, men neida! Ikke for en filmstjerne engang!

Season 2 Episode 5. Nora Chandler, a classic movie star is being blackmailed by Jerry Parks, a reporter so she blows up his car as he parks but finds she accidentally kills her secretary whom he was planning to marry. Columbo soon enters, starstruck by the actress, but will he be able to pin the crime on her as Nora discovers the reporter also had a motive for killing his wife-to-be. Great episode per usual with the usual Columbo ending, catching the suspect out in style.

Nice work by Columbo catching the movie star for two-in-one murder ... watching the Hollywood sets and studios was interesting !
