Conan the Barbarian is an extremely long, frequently incoherent, ineptly staged adventure-fantasy set in a prehistoric past.
Abit like the New York times, then.

You couldn't be more wrong. You find it extemely long because your 83 and probably have to go to the bathroom every five minutes thus ruining the flow. Its not incoherent by any means. The story makes total sense. Conan's life has been filled with pain, suffering, and death. His only desire is venageance, which is completely understandable. The vast majority of people who saw this movie loved it. You probably didnt like it because you soaked your Depends diaper when you watched it.

What on earth are you talking about old man? Do you have a Alzheimer or similar illness? To completely diss movie you must be insane or just out of your mind. I go for the second option. Do yourself a favor man, just re-ti-re.

I agree with Vincent Canby', although I thought this movie had good production design--which wasn't used well due to bad direction and editing--and nice music. Everything else was awful. I can't believe most people didn't pay enough attention to realize how poorly put together it was (shot by shot--countless shots in the movie could have been cut or extended by a few seconds to improve the flow), how underdeveloped (and worse, downright unlikable except the wizard) the characters were. It was incredibly slow-paced, and without any decent story to back it up.

@Megarizt I bet you liked the remake. This movie was a classic. The lack of dialogue is a testament to the story telling. You didn't need the characters to explain what they were doing, you are along for the ride. A part of the experience.
