As a suicide survivor, demon hunter John Constantine (Keanu Reeves) has literally been to hell and back -- and he knows that when he dies, he's got a one-way ticket to Satan's realm unless he can earn enough goodwill to climb God's stairway to heaven. While helping policewoman Angela Dodson (Rachel Weisz) investigate her identical twin's apparent suicide, Constantine becomes caught up in a supernatural plot involving both demonic and angelic forces. The Angel Gabriel and Satan are some of the best depictions of well-known Bible characters that I’ve ever seen on screen... A breath of fresh air in today’s hyper-cookie-cutter style comic book movie world.

Love this movie. It is slick, dark, fantastical, humorous and the cast are well placed and carry off a believable and solid story line with an almost effortless ease. There is one cast member whom plays the same role they did in iRobot, but in this movie, they get whats coming to them so it's satisfying to watch. Special effects are top notch too. I've watched this so many times and there are new little details I missed each time. Critics have got this wrong in my view. This is a great movie.

To me Constantine is endlessly rewatchable, one of those rare films that grabs you mid-scene and refuses to let go. Stylish, moody, and oddly hypnotic, it’s the kind of cult favorite you can stumble into at any point and still feel compelled to stay until the end

I must have seen this at least four or five times, so it must be good, although I'm struggling to explain why. It's unpleasant and the story is a little patchy, but it's brash and very comic book. One extra trivial point - I've read the Wikipedia summary of the plot and I think they watched a different film.
