Movie Info

For those familiar with Bram Stoker's novel, this adaptation follows the book quite closely in most respects. Jonathan Harker visits the Count in Transylvania to help him with preparations to move to England. Harker becomes Dracula's prisoner and discovers Dracula's true nature. After Dracula makes his way to England, Harker becomes involved in an effort to track down and destroy the Count, eventually chasing the vampire back to his castle

Audience Reviews for Count Dracula

Easily the most accurate filmed version of Dracula, despite the rather awful made-for-TV production values. The reason is simple: it not only tries to stay true to the novel, but takes the time to flesh out the characters and advance the plot. Sadly it looks exactly how you might expect an old BBC show to look.

The best film version of Dracula ever! This version follows the novel quite closely and is all the better for it. Louis Jourdan is excellent as the Count.

There was a lot of nice things about this adaptation, you can tell that Francis Ford Coppola drew from this film, when he directed his own version.
