Crossbow was a TV serial-drama that played back in 1987. I was 8 years old, when I found it playing on national television channel. I was mesmerized by its most famous opening montage music-score

With 72 episodes, the program would play about about half an hour, it was created by Anthony Horowitz, Crossbow was filmed entirely on location in France. It follows adventures of William Tell a folk-hero of Switzerland in 14th century, (played by Will Lyman). It takes place in the 14th-century in Switzerland. William Tell and his son Matthew are imprisoned by the tyrannical Governor of Austria Gessler (played by Jeremy Clyde). Gessler plans to stop the Swiss uprising.

Work on locations, costume-designs, fight-tactics, especially the work of keeping tone of medieval period, deserve wide range of accolade from the audience. My belief is that it has got to be counted amongst best dramas based upon folk-heroes.
