Movie Info

This comedy evolves from an amusing series of episodes set in a small village close to the foothills of the Bavarian Alps. Rather than innocently panning village life, director Klaus Gietinger puts greedy bureaucrats and their collusion with big business under a satirical microscope. For centuries the village has benefitted from good drinking water coming right out of simple wells, but now the politicians are pushing a modern city water system. The issue divides the town down the middle with the politicians and optimistic construction company and a few elite on one side and those with more common sense on the other. As might be expected, common sense loses out, and the much-touted pipelines are installed. Obviously, the final word is not in until the tap has been turned on.
