Movie Info

One family's struggle to get by is compounded by a variety of secrets and complications in this drama from Taiwanese filmmaker Chang Tso-Chi. Xue Feng (Lu Xue Feng) comes from a family that immigrated to Taiwan from an island off the Chinese coast, and growing up she discovered there's no love lost between the people of the two nations. Xue Feng marries a man known as Dark Face (Lin Yu Shun), and together they open a small restaurant in Taipei and raise three children, two girls and a boy. However, between the prejudice they face due to Xue Feng's heritage, the open corruption of the local police and the hold crime bosses have over business, keeping their restaurant open is no simple matter. But for Xue Feng's oldest daughter, Laichun (Li Yi Jie), it's family drama that is most troubling, from dealing with her father's autistic brother to having to break the news to her folks that she's pregnant and her boyfriend has left town. However, the family's biggest shock comes when Laichun begins to suspect that she and her siblings aren't actually the offspring of the parents who raise them. Dang Ai Lai De Shi Hou (aka When Love Comes) was an official selection at the 2010 BFI London Film Festival.
