Hatti L Oct 4 One of the most important shows that people should watch. Saw it live, and I will continue to talk about it for years, until the issues are no longer a problem. I tend to roll my eyes when comedians describe themselves as having 'dark humour' because it is often a smoke screen for knowingly offensive content. People like Ricky Gervais have tried to do this and then acknowledge the offence caused, seemingly believing this removes any fault. But underneath that you can still see the cheeky grin of someone who has got away with something and you can still see that the intent wasn't well-meaning. There is a victim to the joke. Daniel Sloss is what dark humour with good intent looks like. He is actively pushing forward dark, uncomfortable conversations and letting you laugh while doing it . He's a straight, white man in comedy, not exactly groundbreaking. But he's using that to infiltrate the defensive nature of men that will look at him, see themselves and let their guard down. I thoroughly enjoyed the 70-75 minutes of jokes but I was left moved and optimistic for a new approach to the conversation around toxic masculinity by the sad 15-minute TED Talk at the end.
