Bracingly realistic with an unique storyline which is compelling from start to finish

"Rust and Bone" is packed, almost overpacked: with important themes, with emotions, with beautiful and touching scenes. Luckily the director seems to be aware of the fact and use the camera to tame this beast, and with a great help from the two leading roles, he does a very good job.

Traumatically, brutally, unflinchingly brilliant film, shot through with a deep realism about where desperation can lead and the mixed blessing of physical strength which cuts the ground from under you at every turn and dignifies ignobility in such a way that you feel empathy rather than disdain for those who have been reduced, or reduced themselves, to the level of animals.

A story about growth and overcoming. The two main characters go through different exceptional hardships, both physically and emotionally, yet their lives get perfectly intertwined at the right times to lift each other up (sometimes literally). Very good performances by the Marion Cotillard and Matthias Schoenaerts portraying the two main characters and the child Armand Verdure as well. The story is very inspirational and outperforms other movies that may have similar plots. Brilliant

Really good film portraying two people who eventually are at life's toughest moments. Both Stephanie & Ali start creating a bond and thrive together where they live on after all that has happened. I wish that there was more structure in certain scenes but overall it was a great performance by the lovely Marion Cotillard & Matthias Schoenaerts showing that life isn't easy and that you gotta move on, no matter what.

Even though it seems muddled at points, the third act puts the film in perspective, truly revealing its sobering nuance.

French movie with many interconnecting parts. Like most of the French movies, you have to stick with them to get the good stuff because they come at odd times. I enjoyed the movie a lot.
