Am I the only one who liked Joe Piscopo? Seems like everything that guy showed up in was critically panned. Dead Heat teams him up with Treat Williams (well known for playing villains in the latter part of his career) and they make an appealing duo. The story is absurd but the direction wisely aims for a tongue-in-cheek mood. Another one of those movies that you either go along with or don't. I went with it and had a lot of fun.
It's a shame so few people know how to just have a good time with some popcorn and a hammy horror comedy like this one. The movie is great fun with some really good practical effects and monster makeup. It knows what it is and isn't trying to be anything else, if only the viewers understood what it is cause it deserves a hell of a lot better score than 1 star!
Pretty cheesy movie and has a somewhat mediocre thriller mystery plot for awhile but gets much more interesting towards the end. One scene has very cool practical fx. A ton of bad one liners. It's kind of fun but there are much better 80s horror comedies
Cheesy 80s comedy-horror with some decent special FX by Steve Johnson.
Totally fun buddy cop movie. Not much chemistry between the leads, but the story is pretty fun, and I love the fairly ambiguous ending.
Surprisingly fun late-80's action comedy w/ a decent horror element. Joe Piscapo as the wise cracking, mullet-wearing partner couldn't be any more 80's. In spite of its flaws (it seems like either the editors cut out significant chunks of the story, or the script just plain jumped around a bunch), it still holds up. Impressive practical gore effects add to the package. Not art, but an enjoyable artifact of the era.
No wonder no ones ever really hears about Piscopo with crap like this on his resume'.
really bad... but i loved it.
Eventuellt.
Its weak points are in its writing and music, but they aren't strong enough to overpower the whole film. Thankfully, this buddy cop horror movie has enough charm, gore and unique practical effects to be a delight anyway.
