What to Know

Critics Consensus

A bonkers riff on the lengths people will go to for connection, Dead Lover's singular sensibility can be an acquired taste but writer-director Grace Glowicki's vision is admirably one of a kind.

It’s an absurd film, but also a romantic and quietly radical one. Go to Full Review

This film does more than push boundaries; it delightfully thrashes around in them like a dog jovially rolling around in a steaming pile of feces. Go to Full Review

"Dead Lover" is as weird as it is singular in terms of horror rom-coms and plays out more like a well-produced play with the use of a small cast and claustrophobic shots. Go to Full Review

But even putting all of this aside, Dead Lover works because you want the gravedigger to be happy. She’s spiky and defines her own glam, and you can’t really blame her for wanting to be loved Go to Full Review

BC Mar 21 By far the strangest film us black box theater weirdos needed. However you end up feeling about it, it will surprise you in new ways every 20 seconds. Loved it See more themanicexec Apr 11 'dead lover' is a spellbinding film. a rare gem to behold. a cold plunge. artistry with a vision so clear and pure in its intent that it pulls me in to plumb its depths. high camp that pierces the veil and stirs the soul, gazing beyond superficial surfaces to cut through to the plight of the heart. comedy that reaches into the mud and pulls out hidden truths, letting the worm tickle the funny bone while holding a cracked mirror to the absurdities of life. there are metaphors to die for, but love always finds a way to live on. p.s. experience it in glorious stink-o-vision if you get the chance! It should not have been a feature. No where near enough material to make a feature. They definitely had an intriguing first act but then the movie fails miserably act 2 and 3. So sad this wasn’t good. Had potential and looked cool but not funny, not good, not worth a watch. Have no idea why this was in theaters.
