  • Nothing more than an angsty, tedious, self-important, and painfully boring drama that seems to use the horror genre as only a hook to garner an audience...

  • By being more psychological in its frights, Dead Mary manages an extra layer of spookiness, but it also risks losing less patient viewers in the process.

  • Unfortunately, once dead and zombiefied, these chatty chums are no less talkative than before - forget flesh ripping bites, they'll talk your ear off sooner than sink their teeth into it.

  • I've watched Dead Mary and can't unwatch it. It may be a labor of love and a technically competent film, but it doesn't numb the anger coursing through my soul.

I know this movie didn't get the greatest reviews but I actually thought it was pretty good. I did miss about the first 20 minutes so maybe that affects my judgement a little but I enjoyed it overall. It was kind of similar to a modern version of 'Evil Dead'. I'm glad they decided to avoid CGI effects and focus more on makeup gore because it just adds alot to a film in my opinion. I thought the actors (for a bunch of people I've never heard of before) did a good job at being creepy. The film wasn't over hollywoodized with stars but there was still a little too much relationship drama given the age of the characters. I do think they could have done alot more with the subject they were given and the ending wasn't very conclusive of anything. But if you really think about the predicament the characters were facing- the idea of being forced to make a choice to kill your friends or loved ones when you weren't sure they were possessed or completely normal- it would be a hard decision for anyone to make and this film will really get you thinking.

Can we say Evil Dead rip off meets Candyman? Even so, not the worst thing that I have even seen this week lol. The plot summary here is wrong... it is late 20-something friends since high school, not teenagers involved. The story focuses on who is "one of them" so who can you trust type plot that has been in many movies before but without the in-cheek gusto of some of it's predecessors. Overall for a low budget horror flick, it's not that awful but does take FOREVER to get to any of the horror.

could be considered a cabin fever rip off amoung others, as stupid 20 somethings conjour up dead mary a childhood myth, then she apears through the cast killing and making people paranoid, not entirely sucessfull, with some good points scattered

The opening will put you to sleep. Some where about forty minutes in, a good premise begins to develop, but since the most interesting character dies first, you stop really caring what happens. Much wasted potential.
