Joe Ma gets caught on a sugar-high in the exuberantly sweet holiday flick Sound of Colors, one of the smoothest rides you'll ever take. With it's undemanding plot and perfunctory happy ending, plus lots of unchallenging twists in between, movies don't get any easier. But the appeal of Sound of Colors is nonetheless striking. The gorgeous cinematography, which is pure arthouse fare straight out of Wong Kar Wai's book, and the high-end cast, creates a sense of exclusiveness seldom found in ultra-commercial cinema. However, with structural and aesthetic flaws as painfully apparent as these, Sound of Colors is a most forgettable, but pretty, experience.

This is a cute, sweet movie and enjoyable to watch. However, the two different storylines seemed a little disjointed to begin with. It was not apparent to me that the two gentleman who set the couples up were supposed to be angels until the end of the movie. So up till then, the stories just seemed to be two separate ones, unconnected. Once knowing that, things became a bit more cohesive, but even without knowing that it was still a fun movie to watch.

Leung plays a matchmaker and Yeung plays his blind client. Soon Leung himself becomes blind and "sees" Yeung for who she really is. Meanwhile there's another love story blossoming between two other characters, but this is such a side note it causes more of a distraction. It's a regular love story with valuable life lessons to be learned. The bonding scenes between Leung and Yeung are bittersweet. One of the first instances where she tries to hand him a CD raises as many chuckles as it does "AAAWWW"'s. The complete obviousness of how will end removes a lot of any real passion but the performances are solid and there are many wonderful scenes such as the one just after Leung receives some Christmas candy.

A comic drawing adaptation. Bizarre tone, so 'Mainland'.

Great script turned from one of my favorite book! Love the music, scene sets and plot, even though the acting could be a little better (need more chemistry between the couple)...

One of those girly, silly romantic movies with Cupid and his team working hard to get people together. How come such a movie is adapted from comic series? They have comics like these? Acting was good though.
