Fun and enjoyable bio of the Bronte, if historically inaccurate. Great cast and handsome production.

This movie would have been much more enjoyable if it had not been a Bronte sisters movie. When you approach it as a romanticized version of the sisters (and brother)' lives... it just stop making sense.

Decent but unspectacular biopic about the Bronte sisters with Olivia de Havilland and Ida Lupino as Emily and Charlotte. Telling about their lives, their writing and struggles as female authors could have been a pretty strong film, but instead it becomes a fairly standard love triangle costume drama along the lines of one of their novels. Paul Henreid, Sydney Greenstreet and Arthur Kennedy also appear. Erich Wolfgang Korngold provided the fine score.

Devotion is an enjoyable film. It is about the Bronte sisters. Olivia de Havilland and Ida Lupino give incredible performances. The screenplay is well written and touching. Curtis Bernhardt did a great job directing this movie. I enjoyed this motion picture because of the drama and romance. Devotion is a must see.

Silly fictionalized story of the Bronte sisters. All the characters were so dramatic...were people that over-the-top in the 1800s? Or maybe in the 1940s?

Warner Bros. made great gangster and crime pics. It did NOT excel in the art of bio pics. Here, Lupino and DeHavilland portray the Bronte sisters. It's watchable (especially if you admire Lupino as much as I do), but, again, this isn't WB material. Maybe a film for Harry Cohn at Columbia???
