Perry’s reflex toward tired tropes is rendered in poor taste. Go to Full Review

Aspects are also predictable. But overall, this is a heartfelt and largely understated film (especially for Perry) that will draw you in if you let it. Go to Full Review

It's not that the character can't be good or noble, but it pushes this story more toward fairy tale. Even though Perry's Prince Charming is a former prison inmate, he still comes across as Mr. Perfect, an angel archetype. Go to Full Review

Tyler Perry delivers a Nicholas Sparks–style romance that feels so earnest and sincere that it is easy to overlook its flaws and simply settle into a heartfelt story about redemption. Go to Full Review

Kate R @RT01231384 1 day ago With the exception of the main character's mother who was dying of cancer, the acting was mediocre. The plot, writing, and direction was cliched, predictable, and some parts unrealistic. The first moments the main actress was brutally sexually assaulted, then months later she unaffected by it--no therapy, no flashbacks, no hypervigilance, no residual fear, no mention of a journey toward healing. Instead, she bounces back and readily involves herself in a sexual and intimate relationship with the inmate who was present during the experience and also allows him to take care of her vulnerable baby while she works. So silly. The other problem is Tyler Perry habitually over layering his female leads with trauma. Lastly the overuse of the "N" word, which is now normalized by directors and comedians alike. It proliferates and reinforces self-hate in our communities and signals to the audience of all different hues, that this is how we see ourselves. See more Sophia F @soren2001 6 days ago My husband and I actually loved this movie. It was relatable even if you never been in prison but showed how people fight to get out of the situation they're currently in. That is what it is about. Moving forward and working hard to make your life better. It actually showed a good woman and man. We liked how the people actually looked like real people, not a lot of makeup and wigs. There has to be something that is trying to get in their way or a villain; that's what makes it a movie. If everything was easy, people would then say it was boring. I loved the ending, and I do have to admit that I assumed the ending would turn out how it did. you kind of saw it coming. The prison definitely looked scary and would make you never want to do anything to risk the chance of getting in. That movie for sure made it look terrible. Good job on that. I was rooting for them the entire time, and I'm glad the movies turned out the way it did. See more Shola W @RT22868580 Oct 13, 2026 An absolutely amazing heartfelt film ! Would recommend to anyone who wants to be humbled by real life events well and truly 10/10 See more Lea B @RT95709163 Oct 13, 2026 It’s a no for me dog! I wanted to like it, but most of the acting and storyline was cringe-worthy. At this point, I watch Tyler’s movies to get a good 😂 See more C P @RT96830989 Oct 13, 2026 A complete waste of time with an obvious plot and very bad acting. This is a student film quality and I want my two hours of life back. See more B P @Bradster69 Oct 12, 2026 Not Bad, but Not My Favorite See more Read all reviews
