With this film, what you see is what you a get: Robinson sets out to get revenge on Dolan. A surprisingly enjoyable film, in some ways, because of its leanness, though as an adapted short story, there are still obvious bits of plumping up - no one would release a 60-minute feature. The fetishization of detail in King is always interesting: the reality of the Cadillac, and the gun, and the master plan, all coming to a gritty conclusion. I don't think it could've gotten a bigger budget, and I don't if that would have made it better, but for a straight-ahead, revenge-by-numbers story, it was a solid flick, and decently-enough acted, particularly by Slater, who almost seemed to mean to go over the top... almost.
Ultimate revenge movie! Good movie based off Stephen king short story
A movie by people who knew nothing about road building, guns, tactics, or Newtonian mechanics. Gangsters do not become cool by quoting weird crap. There are at least three places in this movie where, if you cannot predict the next line or action, you fail at movie fandom. If, between the start of the movie and the explosion, you do not have the urge to tell the witness that she is an idiot at least three time, you fail at movie fandom, possibly at life if you are ever a witness. Please God that our local and federal law enforcement officers are smarter than portrayed here. If you are male and older than ten, you have read the graffiti over the urinals. Other reviewers have pointed at Poe's wine as an inspiration. I would point to a certain desert dwelling Warner Brothers cartoon character. Is the IP address 192.168.0.xxx the new 555 area code? Actually, it was reasonable in context, so I give this movie 10% instead of zero, just for the geek cred.
