i loved it. i thought the story was great.
Don Jon is a boring film. It is about a New Jersey guy who develops unrealistic expectations from watching porn. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Scarlett Johansson give disappointing performances. The script is badly written. Joseph Gordon-Levitt also did a horrible job directing this movie. I was not impressed with this motion picture.
I've always considered Joseph Gordon-Levitt to be a tremendous actor and "Don Jon" is no exception to that trend. What JGL proves with this movie, is that he has a knack for writing and directing as well. I think this movie presents an acceptable story but shines because of relevant commentary on modern-day relationships. I think most people can watch this movie and get something positive out of it. It helps that it is directed in a way that keeps things moving with an energetic feel. The movie does feel a bit repetitive in the beginning parts which can get maybe a little tiring, but at the same time, it works for the points the movie is trying to make. Overall, this is a unique romance movie that defies genre conventions and brings up topics that most people will be able to relate to.
Short Decent amazing!this movie tackles amazingly the topic of p@Rn addiction and one sided love.great music, amazing acting,Decent story and screenplay.starting intro was awesome as hell and the overcome of the tackles at end feels satisfying!overall its a amazing movie!
Funny film. A sex comedy done right.
The first 10-15 minutes, aside from the slick editing, had me worried - I was expecting the worst. However, to my pleasant surprise, it delivers as an amusing film about sex and pornography - it even goes away with a positive message.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is great as Jon, I thoroughly enjoyed his performance and what we get to learn about 'Don Jon'. Scarlett Johansson is good as Barbara, while Julianne Moore and Tony Danza support astutely. Brie Larson's character is utterly pointless, but in a way that's actually quite chucklesome - which I assume is the intention.
The editing and camera work in this took my notice as well, both help keep the pacing going as it never feels like it's stalling at any point. I like this film, you should give it a watch.
Boring and embarrassing. Gold chains and male posturing. Ick.
Movie has an extronairingly powerful message for young adolescent men as there is no guide book on the true views of porn. Watching at 26 this was a movie I strongly suggest watching by urself to void out negativity of today's norm society and if your a woman watching this please go in open minded and understand going in it's a man flick at heart! The ending (No Spoilers) is a masterpiece and really got too me as I can relate after so many years not knowing what's the difference between lust and love this is truly a great watch if you can go in and loose urself into what the message is and what the director is truly trying to portrait.
a critique of modern romance in a way that most single men and women will understand and might even feel disgusted.
Funny. Emotional. Eye opening.
Joseph G. Levit proves that he is even more talented then i thought, and I already thinks his awesome ! great job
Fun little movie which serves as an excellent showcase for Scarlett Johansson
The first half of the film felt like the movie was sped up and I had to check my settings to see if I hadn't accidentally set it to 1.5x the speed. They talk really fast. This might be a director decision to indicate the rapidity of his actions but it made me work to keep up. The accents are adequate, if not over the top. The acting also fine. The plot is alright. It's just a bit demeaning to women in a macho sense and I don't think it's believable.
