one of the worst movies ive ever seen
Well edited, written and directed. This movie delves deep into modern relationships showing both sides of the coin in ways unlike other films of the "genre" It shows the fantasized and occasionally sexist viewpoints of the average man but also the manipulative and demanding role of the woman. It provides realistic characters and people with a witty and fun script. It's clever and well acted. It does have some slow sections and a few moments that don't hit as hard as they should but over all it provides a great insight into what toxic relationships can be like now and it is very well done. Joseph Gordon Levitt should definitely not give up his directing career.
This film is so explicit as to make grown adults cringe. It's a pointless look at a man who is addicted to some awful things, a man who is not ashamed of his addictions. I don't find the story realistic in how this man, set in his ways, attempts change for a woman.
A not entirely bad but ultimately disappointing movie.
I really felt the ending. This movie was quite an experience and the lesson here really does go beyond just porn but can be applied to man things in life.
Don jon es una propuesta comica bastante interesante con un punto de vista bastante emocional ,las actuaciones en este film son impecables al igual que sus personajes , la conexión convencional del director Joseoh Gordon refresca a Don Jon como un gran debut.
Odd movie, not sure what to make of it, but it had Scarlett in it, so 3 stars for that I suppose.
For what it is well-made and with a good ensemble, the plot itself (and the main Character) are quite off-putting.
As much as I've been irritated at how many times JGL has been rumored to play the lead in a comic book movie, I really do like him. I just don't think he's right for a comic book character but maybe Nightwing. "Don Jon" is a welcome relief for fans of his as he has written and directed something unique and talent-showcasing. The story is even and doesn't disappoint, but it doesn't bowl the viewer over with something extremely powerful. It's impressive for his age and experience, though. It is the right amount of funny, twisted and, eventually, heartwarming as his sleazy character learns some powerful lessons. Transforming ScarJo from the "dime" she is thought to be into the truly ugly person she is was very well done. I didn't like the casting of Julianne Moore, but all things considered, that was a pretty light issue. Tony Danza and Glenne headley's roles as Jon's parents really surprised me. Danza dropped the F bomb more often than DeNiro in a Scorcese pic, which also surprised me since I thought he was bothered by that sort of thing, but it was nice to see him in that kind of role. The film was precious and more like what I want to see JGL attempting.
An awesome directorial debut from Gordon-Levitt. Humorous and entertaining.
