While it's impossible to call anything fashioned by a man of Altman's skill unwatchable, there are times when this pedantic and dull effort comes close.

About as much fun as a Pap smear.

There is never anything in the film to make you want to keep watching it. Not one thing about it is compelling or engaging.

After the film wanders for two hours, growing more and more absurd, it ends in an extremely unsatisfying way.

On the surface, Altman's film is clearly meant as a paean to the variety and emotional fecundity of women, but scratch the surface, and you realize that underneath, it's not so pretty.

Place settings would have been required in order to follow the who's-who of Dr. T, if not for the fact that every character is a shallow stereotype.

Maybe the film's ambiguity is its message all along--that life is what you make of it.

Any film which opens with an implicit pelvic exam and closes with an explicit live birth is trying to say something, but the stuff in the middle, alas, doesn't amount to much of anything.

A flabby farce in which everyone seems to be making it up as they go along.

Much like the inexplicable tornado at the end that causes this film to truly derail...this blows.

The ending is so supremely awful that whatever progress had been made up to that point was washed away by the film's obtrusively climactic storm.

It's too bad that the flitting and unconvincing script and direction gets in the way of our enjoying the acting.

Dr. T raises some seductive questions ... and mixes them up in a madcap and outlandish blender swirl. Through the murk, it's often hard to see the movie's heart.
