Very overrated, It had little horror and the jump scares came from a mile away, It had a few dodgy effects for its year but I did like the story but don't believe the hype when it says scariest film in years.

Though its gimmick of using dark exaggerated humor, even though eerie and appealing, is not for the gag of the many. Some of its scenes --- if looked carefully --- have some obvious flaws, and the CGI seldomly tends to look shitty. On the contrary, all of that didn't even do a huge rip for the film to deliver an overstate horror entertainment. One of its aspects is to playfully provoke audience's thoughts about the characters' traits and its development through a certain scene, hence, lets the audience connect to them; then gives `em a tasty, jaw-dropping brutality of a finale which probably is the most unforgettable point in the film. Drag Me To Hell possesses the title of an exaggerating, unnerving, cringeworthy, entertaining horror movie masterpiece that Sam Raimi has had ever carved since Evil Dead trilogy.

Alison Lohman and Justin Long drive the picture forward along with the hilariously over the top gore, goo and grime that is constantly poured over the heads of the protagonists. A messy gross-out horror, Drag Me to Hell proves Raimi is still on top form and provides enough laughs and a handful of genuinely scary moments to stimulate a first viewing and entice a second viewing shortly after. The film also has a convincing and memorable villain to boot, as every horror picture should.

It was great to see Raimi take a break from super-hero flicks into this. A throwback to his slapstick horror roots, this is a much better polished movie compared to the Evil Dead trilogy, with compelling characters and storytelling but never loosing sight of repulsive humor, out of nowhere jump scares and just plain madness while at it.
