Movie Info

Sang-won has the dream of being a professional singer, so she becomes a member of her vocational high school band, Magnolia. The members of Magnolia begin to practice with the band of a neighboring boy's high school as recommended by their seniors. As they work together, feelings develop, and friends quickly become competitors for the affection of a boy. Through the relationships of Sang-won, Soi, and Su-ah, the three girls learn the need to make their own decisions and take responsibilities for them. In the process of their growing pains, they discover their true love. Set in a vocational girls' high school, this coming-of-age film interweaves the themes of friendships between schoolgirls, their lives, and their strong determination to hold onto their dreams of making music in spite of the harsh realities of growing up in Korea. Performing in traditional schoolgirl attire in the spirit of Oreskaband, "Drawing Paper" features the young cast actually doing a decent job creating their own music in the all-girl band. The unabashed hopefulness in the lyrics that Sang-won sings harkens back to the age of innocence, and reminds us of how to dream, and what it was like to fall in love with music for the first time.
