While Nicholaas Zwart's screenplay isn't completely up to par with the film's visuals and performances, Dreamland is an impressive film.

Without Robbie, Dreamland would be relatively forgettable, but with her - as with so much of her work - this otherwise milquetoast film becomes something if not memorable exactly, then certainly very enjoyable.

Composer Patrick Higgins' dissonant soundtrack also won't be for everyone, but as Dreamland builds towards its predictable finale, the visuals and Robbie ensure it's a ride that's never dull.

The cinematography of this film is certainly its strongest point. More than ably bringing to life the dusty milieu of this part of Texas during the 1930s, the expanse of the vistas as well as Margot Robbie's blue eyes.

Dreamland is no masterpiece but it is a robustly made action drama...

The scantiest of outlaw stories, but a great-looking film filled with warm colors and spot-on performances in even the smallest roles. Margot Robbie's blue eyes and tawny skin shine like a small sun hurtling toward burnout.

"Dreamland" needed a movie star, and it gets one in Margot Robbie.
November 13, 2020
Robbie does her best to keep audiences invested in the characters and the film offers a muted vision of the period and genre, but there simply isn't enough going to keep audiences moving through the molasses-slow narrative pacing and pretentious staging.
November 13, 2020
Dreamland has all the elements of an interesting story but, sadly, doesn't fully develop any of the plot points that are introduced over the 98-minute movie.

Margot Robbie illuminates the screen as a bank robber pulling a conflicted young man towards a darker future.
November 12, 2020
It ultimately isn't a hopeful story, but it still enchants with its depiction of the romanticism of youthful fantasy and tragedy of adult reality.
November 11, 2020
Offers viewers tight introspection and games of trust as the picture moves back and forth between drama and suspense.
November 10, 2020
Dreamland isn't Ain't Them Bodies Saints, but it is an attractive deviation that skews younger with its coming-of-age nostalgia rising above the plot's dramatic intrigue.
