Fun MGM musical is sort of a hodegepodge of everything plus the kitchen sink; Lucy looks ravishing in Technicolor, Skelton does his shtick, Kelly sings & dances (to Cole Porter's "Do I Love You?") , Tommy Dorsey & His Orchestra perform "Katie Went to Haiti," and the entire cast ends the film on a happy note with "Friendship."

Du Barry was a Lady is a decent film. It is about hat check man Louis Blore who is in love with nightclub star May Daly. Red Skelton, Lucille Ball, and Gene Kelly give good performances. The screenplay is a little slow in places. Roy Del Ruth did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the music and humor.
