Movie Info

Produced in France, the poignant, loosely autobiographical The Wall (aka Le Mur)was the last work of Turkish writer/director/political activist Yilmaz Guney. The film examines the lives of a group of children. Disenfranchised and alienated from society, orphaned and alone, the children have been imprisoned in Ankara where they are regularly beaten and raped by the guards. The young prisoners ultimately stage an unsuccessful revolt against the guards, with tragic results. Co-written by Guney and Marie-Helene Quinton,The Wall is considered one of the director's best works.
