Audience Reviews for Eagles, The - Hell Freezes Over

½

Welcome back Eagles. A reunion, documentary style opening with concert to follow. Enthusiastic venue is not huge and indoors. The title bespeaks the hostile breakup of the band and remorse filled return, at least for Don Henley in interview material before the concert begins. Well done filming by, again, Image Entertainment. Sound is excellent too. My chief criticism of the concert is that most of the song selections are rather slow paced. Not until Take It Easy and Life in the Fast Lane does the tempo pick up and not all that fast either. The dvd contains Seven Bridges Road audio track requiring dts decoder. Color, 99 minutes, includes brief interviews with all the band memebers in the begining of the dvd before showtime, explaining how it was the reunion eventually came to be. The nervous band members wondering how they would be recieved and better yet perform is obvious in the interviews. The Eagles weren't totally sure they could pull this off. But pull it off they did, however slow paced the material. And they were welcomed back adoringly by fans in attendance. DVD is natually in color, PCM soundtrack for stereo, DTS digital surround 5.1. 99 minutes. Geffen home video. The set list: Hotel California Tequila Sunrise Help Me Through the Night (Joe Walsh) The Heart of the Matter (Henley) Love will keep us Together (Schmidt) Learn to be Still (Frey) Pretty Maids all in a Row The Girl from Yesterday (Frey) Wasted Time (Henley) I Can't Tell You Why (Henley) New York Minute (Henley) The Last Resort Take it Easy Life in the Fast Lane In the City Get Over It (Henley) Desperado Contains old as well as by then new material as solo artists. Henley plays drums. The group starts the show sitting on stools for quite a while. Not an energetic band willing to stand, at least in the beginning songs. Still, with some of these criticisms, worth watching once if not more times with time in between viewings.
