Movie Info

As originally aired and seen on PBS, this documentary program explores the life, times and innumerable accomplishments of Elbert Hubbard (1856-1915), one of the chief proponents of the 'Arts and Crafts Movement' - a sort of creative renaissance in American handiwork that blossomed between about 1880 and 1910. Some championed Hubbard as a great talent and a visionary; others derided him as a charlatan and a huckster, driven his own need to attain immortality. Drawing from vintage archival materials and incisive historical analysis, this program explores the many facets of Hubbard's world and the legacy he left behind.
