Audience Reviews for Eleven Minutes

What a film! This import from New Zealand is an excellent import that should not be missed. Why it never came stateside is a shame because it really deserved more play here. This is the true story of a horrible mass murder that took place in a small seaside New Zealand town in 1990. An unhinged man shot thirteen people, many of them women and children in a rampage that lasted 48 hours. It tells, in an almost detached style, the events as they unfolded, and sets up the players that make this story so wrenching perfectly for maximum impact when the badness comes down. You feel the horror, just as the police did, of finding a little girl still alive in a truck bed, shot and lying next to her dead brothers. She thought they were sleeping...SAD but very powerful. The scenery is well shot, and the town's remoteness added to the sense of dread and claustrophobia. The acting is great and everyone seems natural and unforced. This is excellent and moving and is a should see on everyones list. If nothing else you get a little taste of rural life in New Zealand and some really sad and heroic moments from the people who live there. Also watch the real footage included on the extras. It is chilling how well they executed the the movie as it looked to the media. 8.5/10

Solid story, very well directed and acted. It's always interesting and it's simplicity is an asset. Great pace, fine character development. Wonderfully done.
